Why seamless is the default now
Sectional gutter is joined every ten feet or so, and every joint is a future leak. Seamless runs are roll-formed on site to the length of the fascia, so the only joints are at corners and outlets. On most Kentucky replacements that is simply the standard choice; sectional still makes sense for a very short run or a patch into an existing sectional system.
Sizing and pitch actually matter
A modest roof sheds hundreds of gallons in a single heavy Ohio Valley rain. Undersized gutter, too few downspouts, or a valley dumping into a short run will overflow no matter how clean it is. Pitch is the other half, a consistent fall toward the outlet, commonly around a quarter inch per ten feet. A run that sags between hangers holds standing water and will spill at the low point every time.
Where the water goes
Installing gutter without solving discharge just moves the problem four inches. Downspouts should release well away from the wall, four to six feet is the usual rule of thumb, further where the grade slopes back toward the house. Extensions, splash blocks and buried drain lines all work. What matters is that the water leaves rather than soaking straight back into the soil beside the foundation.
Check the fascia first
New gutter hangs off the fascia board. If that board has softened from years of overflow, it will not hold hangers and a brand new run will sag within a season. Any quote worth comparing says what condition the fascia is in and what happens if it needs replacing.
