Reading an exterior quote
Two quotes for the same house can differ by a lot and both be honest, because they are scoping different work. Before comparing prices, compare what is in each document: tear-off and disposal, the water-resistive barrier behind the cladding, flashing at every window and door, trim and corner posts, gutter sizing and the number of downspouts, where those downspouts discharge, condition of the fascia the gutters hang from, and the warranty terms on material and on labor separately.
Then check the contractor: a Kentucky business address, a certificate of general liability insurance and workers compensation coverage, and references in your own county. That last one matters most after a severe storm, when crews from out of state canvass affected neighborhoods within days.
